tunage: let love

28 days could never.

The events of involuntary implantation of Africans onto American soil over 400 hundred years ago to build a country that, even in present day, operates on systems that oppress the descendants of said ancestors only gets a month of commemoration.... GTFOH!

As sheisty as the colonizers have been, we are even more so resilient, reclaiming pride in a culture that has been exploited since the beginning of this country’s history. February being more of a New Year for us, we celebrate Blackness year-round. While our homeland has not quite repaired the damage done to our forefathers and foremothers nor taken the necessary measures to rectify the transgression of today, we continue to resound in the notion that we gone be alright.

The most revolutionary acts of Blackness are to live unapologetically and love unequivocally.

Black love.

More than a hashtag, it is an institution that has been a target for destruction since the beginning of pilgrim time, an anchor that has moored us despite our tumultuous pasts, a force in it’s own right, one to be uplifted and honored.

As we give our ancestors their flowers this month, let love make room to do the same for those in your lives today. Let it inspire. Let it reinforce the very bond that is often infiltrated yet impossible to destroy. Let it remind you that our love is unparalleled, as are we.

Happy Black.  Happy Love.

Reflect. Give thanks. Enjoy.
